Today's topic is...
My favorite craft to make this time of year is snowflakes! I hang them up in the room and don't take them down until the first day of spring (though in Michigan we sometimes still have snow after that!). But by then we are all sick of the sight of snow.
There are two different types of snowflakes I have made with my students, and they both turn out great. The last few years I have made snowflakes like this...
I found a great tutorial that gives step by step instructions that you can watch below.
The kids really enjoy making these and they don't take very long to put together.
Last year, we added a little color to our snowflakes. Sorry about the bad picture...it was the only one I could find. But you get the idea.
The other snowflakes I like to make are from Martha Stewart. Click on the picture below to see Martha's step by step instructions on how to make this beautiful snowflake.
It's been a few years since I have done this type of snowflake with my students, so I don't have any pictures. But I am planning on making these with my kids this year. In fact, I just went to Gordon's Food Service today and bought the white paper bags. They come in packages of 500 there! Be sure to stop by later in December. I'll be posting pics of our snowflakes when we get them done!
Check out all the other great holiday art projects!
